First Republic Bank
First Republic is the 14th largest U.S. bank with an enterprise value greater than $19 billion. A vast majority of their members prefer to use online and mobile banking. From 2020-2022, I joined the team and led a significant re-design of their native mobile app, including an updated information architecture, new design system and introduction of significant features such as Zelle Integration.
My Role
● Led a team of 2 designers.
● Conducted a heuristic audit of the previous mobile application experience highlighting UX faux pas, design and technical debt.
● Crafted high fidelity prototypes and vision videos to inspire and align the executive team.
● Led workshops with cross-functional stakeholders to devise a tactical plan for the redesign.
● Managed day-to-day design execution, implementing new service offerings, e.g., Zelle integration, Private Wealth Management integration, Transfers, Bill Pay, Deposits updates, etc.
● Updated team workflow from Sketch to Figma.
Outcomes
● With the Zelle® release clients transferred $185M within 60 days, a 90% increase from previous transfer options.
● The integration of Private Wealth Management (Investing) accounted for more than 30% of the app’s usage, exposing both exclusive banking or exclusive investing clients to FRB’s other service offerings.
● Introduced “My Team” a direct way to access and schedule chats with your personal bankers. The feature had massive adoption.
Zelle® connecting people through money like never before.
Although I led several initiatives across First Republic’s native mobile app redesign, for the purpose of this case study I’m highlighting one of the most impactful, i.e., Zelle® integration.
